How HobbyLocal Works

Here's how HobbyLocal works: it's a community-run map — there's no gatekeeper deciding what makes the cut. Here's how it stays accurate.

Sign in with Google

One tap, no password to remember. An account is what lets the community trust your votes and gives you a place to manage what you've added.

The community runs this, not an admin

There's no one behind the scenes approving listings one by one. When you submit a shop or event, it shows up on the map right away marked "pending review" until enough other members confirm it's accurate.

Votes are weighted, not just counted

Everyone gets one vote per listing, but longer-standing, more active members carry a bit more weight, on a curve with diminishing returns, so a handful of accounts working together still can't easily push something through.

Anyone can suggest a fix

Notice a shop moved, or a missing detail? Click "Suggest a fix" on any listing. Your proposed change goes through the same community confirmation before it's applied.

Report it if it's closed

If a shop shuts down or an event gets cancelled and the original poster never comes back to update it, anyone signed in can report it — once enough people agree, it's removed from the map automatically.
